Located on the coast of Mexico in the Baja California Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is a place like no other. The region consists of a combination of rocky mountains, wild desert terrain, and stunning beaches.
Cabo’s natural beauty and warm weather make it a desirable holiday destination. The city’s unique landscape is also ideal for outdoor Cabo adventures like boat tours, watersports, and (of course) ATV riding.
Quick Tip: Cabo has a warm climate with sunshine all year round. The sun’s rays can get quite harsh sometimes, so use lots of sunscreen during your visit.

Cabo ATV Tours: Times
The times of ATV tours in Cabo are extremely flexible and can easily fit into your vacation schedule. Tours typically take place every day of the week, and there are various starting times from which you can choose.
In general, the earliest tours start between 08:00 and 09:00 each morning. Depending on the duration of the tour, the latest start time is usually around 16:00. This cut-off time ensures your tour finishes before nightfall while still giving you a chance to see a breathtaking Cabo sunset.
Best Time for ATV Riding in Cabo San Lucas
ATV riding is a weather-dependent sport, so you want to go when the climate is most temperate.
Cabo’s summer months (June to August) bring intense heat. You run the risk of sunburn and heat exhaustion, especially if you spend long periods outdoors on an ATV tour. July to September is Cabo’s rainy period. While Cabo isn’t generally a very rainy place, you still want to avoid any possible rainfall when planning outdoor activities.
Overall, the best time to go on an ATV tour in Cabo is during spring (March to May) or late Fall (October and November). During these months, you’ll find pleasant temperatures and mild weather conditions that are perfect for ATV adventures.
ATV Tours in Cabo San Lucas | Options and Tickets
ATV riding is a fun way to explore any region. It’s particularly popular in Cabo because of the city’s beautiful landscapes.
While you can easily get a once-off ATV rental, Cabo San Lucas has a variety of tours available to enhance your experience. With these tours, you’ll get one-on-one ATV safety training and have a local guide to show you the best sights. Below are overviews of two of our favorite ATV tours in Cabo.
Beach and Desert ATV Adventure | Half-Day Tour
This tour guides participants through Cabo’s breathtaking desert and ocean landscape. It’s ideal for those wanting to connect with nature and have a more scenic experience.
You begin the tour in Migriño Park, located just outside of Cabo. From there, you traverse the desert until you reach the gorgeous Migriño beach. You can enjoy the ocean breeze on your face as you ride along the shoreline.
Throughout the tour, you’ll also have the opportunity to stop and take snapshots against various picturesque backgrounds. These photos will undoubtedly capture the beauty of your trip and make for the perfect vacation souvenir.
What we liked: Great for enjoying the best of both worlds with a breathtaking combined beach and desert experience.
- A 2.5 to 3-hour beach and desert ATV tour
- Experienced, certified tour guide
- Single or double ATV
- ATV safety training and protective gear
- Bottled water
- Hotel pick-up and drop-off
- Entrance fee for Migriño Park
- Collision insurance
- Gratuity
Depending on when you visit, one of the biggest perks of this tour is the chance to see some local wildlife. If you’re lucky, you might spot some animals during your ride through the desert. Common sightings include desert falcons and iguanas.
Unfortunately, the noise of ATVs can often scare away land animals. Don’t worry, though — your chances of animal sightings will increase once you arrive at the sea.
Migriño Beach is a well-known place for viewing gray whales. In winter (December to February), these mammals migrate to the Western coastlines of North America and Mexico. They usually stick around until the end of March, when they start swimming back toward Alaska.
Gray whales tend to swim in shallow waters, so you have a high chance of spotting them while riding your ATV along the shoreline. Catching such a closeup glimpse of one of these magnificent creatures is a truly unique experience that you won’t soon forget.

While the restaurant does offer local beer and tequila, it’s unsafe to drink and drive. However, there are plenty of other opportunities to enjoy authentic tequila during your stay. To experience true Mexican liquor at its source, check out these popular Tequila Jalisco tours.
Once you’ve had your fill at the buffet, it’s time to relax (and digest). The friendly tour guides will be more than happy to chat and can even give you some extra tips for your trip. Recommendation: It is misleading to say that this event is 4 hours approximately and not disclose that this includes traveling time. We were under the assumption this was a actually 4 hour tour. It’s actually about 1.45 at best . However it was cool!
