Eiffel Tower with pigeons

Booking a tour with a great guide should help to provide all of the interesting information that you could want. In case you miss a few nuggets of knowledge because you are too distracted by the beauty of the structure – here is a little background about the Eiffel Tower.

The Famous Eiffel Tower

The initial construction by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 was supposed to be temporary as a commemorative structure for the 100th anniversary of the French revolution. When the tower turned out to be a success, Gustave was adamant that it should not be destroyed and highlighted the scientific functional value that the tower could offer in addition to being a tourism icon.

Today, the Eiffel Tower is a powerful symbol of Paris, with almost 7 million visitors climbing its height every year. And what better way to visit it than under the magic of the night sky as the structure is illuminated by 20,000 bulbs!

There are also circulating stories that question if it’s legal to take photographs of the Eiffel Tower at night. The truth of the matter is that the lighting display which illuminates the structure has a copyright claim on it on behalf of the artist, and it is illegal to take photographs of the Eiffel Tower at night.

So, what is an innocent tourist to do? The good news is that the copyright is not really actioned. In fact, the Eiffel Tower’s official website does not even obviously mention the restriction. To be safe – it is advised not to distribute images of the illuminated site at night for commercial purposes.

There are a variety of Eiffel Tower tours at night to see this incredible landmark from every angle. You can enjoy a skip-the-line tour of the Eiffel Tower at night, tickets to a sunset river cruise where you can admire the tower from the Seine, or a combo package if you feel like doing it all in Paris! If you’re looking more for an unforgettable dinner at the amazing 58 Tour Eiffel.

well organized but this is not what I booked I had booked Eiffel Tower +boat for 3.5 hours. I had not booked such a long tour Because our son was with us I didn't want it to finish that late. But we ended up in this longer tour, without explanation when we got the voucher, only when I met the guide.

A great tour that hits all the highlights The lineup to register is lengthy so get their early to avoid panic and the annoyance of queue jumpers who disregard any sense of decorum. Started with the cruise in a boat with at least 100 others. The commentary is only inside the boat but its not that good so sit outside and enjoy the view. I liked the commentary on the bus tour and enjoyed seeing all of the sights. Skip the line to Eiffel Tower was excellent and well worth the effort to go at night and see the city of Paris illuminated. Take snacks with you as it is quite a long tour and runs through dinner. We finished at 11.15pm.

The day was rainy, foggy and cold. The views, as a result, were very poor. To make matters worse, the Viator Tours office where we were told to meet was very unaccommodating. There was no restroom facilities and most of the people behind the counter were not very nice. Our tour guide, however, was very good and tried to make the best of the situation. The lines for the WC at the Eiffel tower were very long and we had to keep up with our group.

Had a 3rd level tour booked with a different company thru Viator that changed the tour time on us last minute. Found this one instead without realizing until we arrived it was 2nd level only. Despite my over sight, it was a good tour. Mike from Canada was our guide. He was very informative and did an excellent job. If your interested in only the second level, this is a very good tour.

When I booked tickets it stated 6.30pm meal, I didn’t receive an email advising it had been changed to 6pm! There wasn’t a seperate queue for the restaurant so we stood in line for the lift for an hour therefore we were late for our meal! Information states wear formal attire, but that is not true, obviously if you want to dress nice and smart you can but a nice pair of jeans and smart shoes is enough as there were other people there in trainers – tuxedo is not required! Meal was nice (but small) I could have ate it 3 times over :-)Views were good – if you get a good table. Staff were very friendly.Make sure you take warm clothes and hat and scarf for cruise if there in the winter if you sit upstairs as it was bitter cold but sights were nice.

We found this tour to be over priced for what we actually received. In hindsight we should have done the river cruise during the day and planned our own dining experience at the Eiffel Tower. It was not a very small, intimate experience as I originally thought.

Our tour guide, Elizabeth, was great! Unfortunately, it took us way too long to get through the line. It was at least an hour for us to get to up to the second floor. Our guide said it was not normal and usually you get up right away. We were disappointed we paid so much for skipping the line and didn’t get to skip any lines.

The meeting place was very easy to find, we were met by Felix and Will. It was a surprise to find out that we would not be getting on the boat until 8:25, and that the Eiffel Tower tour would happen a lot later than we thought, therefore we had to cancel our dinner reservation for my friend’s 50th Birthday. Will was an excellent guide who gave us lots of interesting history and information about the area and the Eiffel Tower. He asked us questions which was a nice way to encourage group participation. It was disappointing to miss our dinner we did not get back to our hotel until 11:45 and ate dinner at a restaurant near our hotel. I think it should be made clearer about the length of the tour

The 3 course meal consisted of bread with no butter, a slice of some sort of jelled substance, which I found out by asking, was a chicken product paired with a tablespoon of shredded lettuce. A small TV dinner size chicken breast, with 2 tablespoons of cooked carrots. Dinner ended with a chocolate brownie. Don’t be fooled, this was not a intimate dinner, all tables where shared with other people.

The Eiffel Tower was one for my bucket list, however we paid a lot of money for a very ordinary chicken dinner on the first level and we were only allowed to go to the 2nd floor by climbing the 300 stairs…I would’ve expected for the cost either before or after dinner a trip to the summit by elevator. Unfortunately not what I expected and the river cruise was not the glass topped boat which was stated in the description of the tour, very mundane cruise up and back on the Seine. So our experience was very average and a bit of a let down. 😏

Absolutely loved the restaurant and atmosphere. Service was great. Like most fancy restaurants, the portions were minimal, figured that would happen so we ate a bit beforehand. The only problem was that we were told that we can go to the second floor to see the view, but we had to take the stairs instead of the elevator. To take the elevator up, you had to go to the first floor and pay extra. As a trainer, I didn’t mind the challenge (it was 300 meters and took around three minutes, and it was cold!!) but we should be able to take the elevator. The cruise was nice. I would do it again!!

We loved this tour and the tour guide Eugenia? was wonderful. She knew what she was talking about and answered all our questions. She engaged us by asking us questions along the tour to see how much we knew about the tower. This made us all think and realize we didn’t really know as much as we thought. Very entertaining guide. So glad that we took the sunset tour as the night was beautiful and we saw the city with all the lights which always makes it look more beautiful. And to our surprise we saw a light show at 9:00 which added to the beautiful trip. I do wish we had been able to go to the top of the tower which I thought the tour did. A little deceiving when I booked it but that was my fault for not reading the entire description. One of the highlights of our trip to Paris. I highly recommend it. Skipping the lines was an added bonus.

This was a complete failure. The dinner was at 8 pm however, did not note that we had to meet at 6. We were late from a previous outing called Viator asking if we could please change to the next day but they refused. I am out of $490. I probably would have done better using my concierge than Viator. I know better next time!’

We were part of a group of about 20 people. Our guide, Igor, was very humorous (I would say, witty) and knowledgeable. We reported at their office (about 7 minutes from the Eiffel tower, easy to locate) ahead of time, the staff were very friendly, and gave us a warm welcome. The tour started from the office, as Igor started his talks. Security check-in was smooth, we didn’t have to wait long for the elevator either. On reaching the second floor, Igor continued his talks, showed us the key attractions from the top, and answered to all our questions. It was a great experience. What didn’t go in our favor is the timing. By the time we booked this tour, the tickets for earlier slots were all sold out, and we managed to grab the 9:30pm slot only. It was dark, quite cold and windy at the top, and even though we wanted to stay some more time after the guided tour ended (you are allowed to stay longer), we had to cut short. So if you are taking this tour, try to book for an earlier slot. One more thought – due to the huge crowd and the wind, it was often not easy to follow what Igor was saying. Would have been good if there were radio head sets provided (not sure if there are restrictions imposed by Tower authorities).

Met up at the designated meeting spot prior to going to the Eiffel Tower security check point as a large group. As soon as we cleared the first security check point we separated into 2 smaller groups. Went at 9PM and waited in the queue for less than 20 minutes. Went through an additional security check point before going up the elevator to the second floor. Beautiful view at night with lights flashing on the Eiffel Tower for 5 minutes every hour. Free to go on your own after stepping off the elevator or stay with the tour guide to hear about the history of the Eiffel Tower and Paris. Worth paying a little more to skip the line and not wait as long as those who do not have a ticket ahead of time.

I did this with my daughter and will definitely do this one again with my husband on our next trip. We were able to get to the top w/out any hassle and were offered a glass of champagne then left on our own to explore. We took the most amazing pictures before heading down which we did at the right time. There’s nothing like walking down the stairs in the Eiffel Tower when the lights are going off. It is the most incredible memories I have of Paris!!

Our guide, Hugo was knowledgeable and fun. Learned a lot more than we would exploring on our own. The cruise also helped us understand the layout of the city better.

Even though it was cloudy and overcast we had an enjoyable cruise down the seine rive. Our host was very good, and watching the tower light up and then going to the second floor at night was phenominal

We had a wonderful evening in Paris with our tour guide Henry, from City Visions. Henry is an outstanding guide and went above and beyond what we expected. Our Eiffel Tower and Seine River Cruise with champagne tour, was the highlight of our vacation in Paris. I highly recommend this tour.
