Best Time to Go
Any time is a great time to take a cruise on Sydney Harbour, but we think the best time is in the evening. The harbour is particularly stunning around sunset.
Ideally, you’ll catch the last of the golden-hour light, for a spot of sightseeing, before the sun sinks below the horizon. Then the evening lights start to make an appearance, casting stunning reflections on the water of the bay.
If this sounds appealing, be sure to check what time the sun sets in Sydney, and book a cruise that lines up with it. While it might not always be possible to capture the full sunset, booking a Sydney dinner cruise will usually be your best bet.

We were picked up at Circular Quay, and had a great experience. The ship was delightful and and comfortable, the food was marvelous! OMGosh! We had the Australian Tenderloin and it almost melted in my mouth – so delicious. We were celebrated for our 50th anniversary by being given 2 glasses of champagne with sparklers lit and shining. 🙂 We enjoyed seeing the city lights from the water and our evening was very pleasant! I would recommend this to everyone.

Easy to access, and remember if you order tickets online that an office just in front of the wharf where it pulls up will swap your printed ticket out for one the cruise ship takes readily. That night was rather nice, not too crowded, but the beginning of Spring, and there was a musician and a singer on the dinner deck keeping the crowd entertained. Meal was delicious, alcohol was extra but no issue, and views from the "star" deck if you wanted to take evening clear evening pictures came out great. A nice way to see various sights around the harbor as many were well lit up and enjoyable.
