Niagara Falls is a group of three enormous waterfalls that sit right on the international border between New York state and Ontario, Canada. The falls, which drain Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, reach an astounding height of 167 feet (51 meters) and combined, they form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in North America.

Six Million cubic feet of water falls relentlessly over the falls every minute, making for an incredible sensory experience. The falls are truly a wonder of nature.

Straddling the border between the US and Canada, these falls also happen to be just a short flight away from New York City. This makes it possible (and incredibly rewarding) to take a day trip from New York City to Niagara Falls.

maid of the mist boat

The Niagara Falls from NYC tours allow for you to get right up close to the falls, either from the water by boat, or by slipping in behind the colossal walls of water for an incredible view from the inside. Your guide will pepper the tour with interesting facts and information as you absorb the thunderous gush of the falls.

Whether you choose the option that transports you via bus or the option of flying, the journey is certainly worth the reward.

If your tour of Niagara Falls takes place during the summer months (between May and October), you’ll get to take a ride up to the falls on the world-famous ‘Maid of the Mist’ boat.

Operating for over 150 years, the ‘Maid of the Mist’ cruise floats passengers right into the mystical mist that surrounds the roaring falls. The 30-minute cruise drifts you across the foaming waters to the basin of the Horseshoe Falls and the base of the American Falls. Feel the cool mist on your skin as light dances through the spray and across the water.

If your tour falls in the winter months (between November and April), your guide will show you a different side of the falls as you embark on the ‘Journey Behind the Falls’. An elevator takes you down 125 feet before you emerge behind the waterfall.

I was so happy to confirm that this was the best option among the other tours that take you through the pain of airports. The bus was really comfortable and we actually spent more time enjoying the amazing scenery of the Niagara Falls than the other guys that flew in. A great bang for your buck!

Wonderful experience. I have visited NY many times, and never thought about experiencing Niagara Falls in one day. When some friends recommended us this tour, we decided to go for it, and we are pleased we did it. The round trip it’s very comfortable, and the time spent in Niagara was great. We really recommend the boat experience in summer time. 100 recommended.

This was breathtaking…we visited Niagara Falls on one of the coldest days it has seen for some time. The tour was arranged very very well, when you consider the transport involved planes and buses, and hotels etc. Our day started at 5:45am and we got back to the hotel that night at about 9:00pm, so a very long day but very worth it. This is just one of those things that you just HAVE to do.

overall great service and experience. pick up and drop off location was convenient. coach was comfortable and it would stop by for breaks every 3 to 4 hours. i would recommend 1 or 2 nights stay over at Nigara falls as distance one way was close to 8 hours. not worth while to travel 16 hours on coach for an hour view

Amazing to be here, one of the wonders of earth. Will never regret visiting this place, so nice and serene. A must visit to experience the greatness of this place. The only setback is the travelling time, quite long but worth enduring.

It is worth the penny. Just sad that I was not able to obtain a Canadian visa so I only got to see the US side of the falls. Kudos to the driver and the lady tour guide for such a good trip.
